# Carapace refinement log Scope: red carapace only; live Blender scene. Active file: Ainekio/Slave/hardware/v2-12servo/Ainekio-Neck-Reference-Refined.blend 2026-09-19 13:20:51 | Baseline: inspected visible armor and Mesh_0.001; saved Before-Iterations backup. No geometry edits yet. No separate image reference objects were found; the imported textured robot and user-supplied concept images are available for comparison. 13:21:15 | 001 | Neck Collar - Restored | Reference: Mesh_0.001 side profile. Reduced floating gap: front lowered 1.5 mm, rear 3.5 mm with linear blend. Width, thickness, topology retained. Review pending. Backup mesh: ITER 001 - collar before height adjustment Review 001: side screenshot confirms reduced gap; collar remains too high. Retained first small correction; next correction limited to rear half. 13:21:59 | 002 | Neck collar | Mesh_0.001 side comparison: remaining excessive rear lift. Lowered rear edge another 3 mm, fading to zero at X75. Preserved front edge and thickness. Review pending. Review 002: side and three-quarter previews show closer roof layering. Retained; broad roof shape still differs from source fins and remains for later passes. 13:22:24 | 003 | Main Mask | Source front/three-quarter molded edges. Added editable nominal 0.25 mm bevel, 2 segments, 35 degree limit. Base vertices, silhouette, LCD seat unchanged. Review pending. 13:22:40 | Reference scope updated by user: use ONLY workspace/Pictures/helm/concept art images and Mesh_0.001. Earlier comparison images superseded. Iteration 003 bevel has little visible effect in flat shading; pending closer review, no further mask changes yet. 13:23:21 | 004 | Main Mask | Reference: concept art/face close.png. Harsh triangulated shading differs from broad molded surfaces. Added smooth shading with 38 degree sharp edges and weighted normals. No vertex positions changed. Backup: ITER 004 - mask before surface normals. Review pending. Review 003/004: retained subtle bevel and weighted shading. Comparison 03 versus 04 shows fewer artificial triangular highlights across brow and cheeks. Opening and outer dimensions unchanged. Next target: lower cheek tip silhouette against concept art/face close.png. 13:25:03 | 005 | Main Mask inner lower cheek corners | Reference concept art/face close.png. Symmetric localized outward shift up to 1.05 mm, lift 0.55 mm, rearward 0.35 mm; blended within 5 mm of tip. 43 vertices affected; actual maximum displacement 1.211 mm. Backup mesh ITER 005 - mask before cheek corners. Review pending. Review 005: front and quarter views confirm symmetric, shorter inner tips with unchanged lower perimeter; retained. Next reference difference: brow has no central panel seam. 13:26:05 | 006 | Main Mask brow | Reference concept art/face close.png center panel line. Added 0.22 mm wide, 0.35 mm deep editable surface-following seam. Existing geometry retained, cutter parented to mask. Review pending. Review 006: retained; groove tracks crown without changing silhouette. 13:26:48 | 007 | Main Mask | concept art/face close.png paired angled crown divisions. Added symmetric 0.22 mm wide, 0.32 mm deep editable grooves, Y18 at rear to Y13 at brow. Review pending. Review 007: paired grooves stopped short of perimeter. Extended sampled paths to rear and front edges, keeping width/depth. Review 007 extension: rear endpoints now reach concealed rear perimeter; front endpoints still need continuation across the brow lip in a later pass. No full-depth shell cuts. Current pass retained. 13:29:22 | 008 | Main Mask brow lip | Reference concept art/face close.png. Added surface-following continuations of 3 crown grooves over front lip, 0.24 mm wide and 0.36 mm deep. Review pending. Review 008 first attempt: paired lip lines offset from crown ends. Corrected by solving the same angled crown path on the front-facing surface; central line unchanged. Review 008: corrected front view confirms connected center and paired crown/lip lines. Retained. 13:31:13 | 009 | Left/right shoulder plates | Reference concept art/64bd3947-59c4-49f9-868b-61e307d1564d.png and face close.png. Trial restoring existing hidden plate pair: 4 mm rear, 2 mm up, transverse width reduced 15 percent about Y +/-30. Original data retained; no hardware changed. Review pending. Review 009: rejected. Existing plates still blanket brow and conflict visually with collar; no clear reference improvement. Restored previous mesh and hidden state for both. Next: compare visible imported upper armor rather than forcing this old candidate. 13:32:42 | Inspection 010 | Compared imported upper armor and rear arch against approved concept art. Upper import spans center body; defer any role/scale changes until an overlay comparison. Rear silhouette is closer; next inspect rear cap-to-arch spacing. No geometry changes in 010. 13:34:37 | 011 | temp_mesh.ply.001 center rear cap | References approved rear view 0c82a6a5...png and side 64bd3947...png. Exposed cap region tucked toward body up to 1.5 mm and lifted 0.6 mm; blended before X-98, beyond Y +/-21 and outside Z70..89. 1234 vertices affected, max 1.616 mm. UVs and topology retained; arch perimeter unchanged. Backup ITER 011 - rear mesh before cap inset. Review pending. Review 011: side view shows reduced cap overhang; rear contour and arch retained. 13:35:08 | 012 | temp_mesh.ply.005 rear lower bumper | Approved rear image 0c82a6a5...png shows upturned ends. Added symmetric quadratic rise from zero at center to 1.2 mm at ends. UVs/topology retained. Backup ITER 012 - rear bumper before end sweep. Review pending. Review 012: retained; bumper end rise improves the shallow U silhouette, center height unchanged. Next comparison: front side protector horizontal returns against side concept. 13:36:15 | 013 | Front side protectors | Reference side concept 64bd3947...png. Lengthened upper horizontal returns rearward by up to 2.5 mm, fading out at X78 and Z86; vertical guards fixed. Both source meshes backed up with ITER 013 names. UVs/topology retained. Review pending. Review 013: both returns now reach farther across the servo top, closer to the side concept; retained. Vertical strips and lower tips unchanged. Remaining mismatch: upper sweep is still flatter than the reference and roof/fin arrangement needs further work. 13:38:24 | 014 | Neck Collar - Restored | Approved concept art face close.png / 64bd3947...png and source/model top comparison. Collar too broad/solid relative to layered reference. Narrowed middle shoulders up to 2.5 mm per side, blended to ends; recessed center front edge up to 3 mm. One piece, original thickness and topology retained. Maximum displacement 3.0 mm. Backup ITER 014 - collar before shoulder narrowing. Review pending. Review 014: narrowed collar shoulders and recessed center edge retained; broad rear remains unlike the opening in face close.png. 13:39:26 | 015 | Neck collar | Approved face close.png central gap between upper fins. Trial rounded rear-open notch, 18 mm wide and approximately 9 mm into rear edge, 3 mm internal radius. Editable Boolean; base mesh intact. Review pending. Review 015: notch is clean and retained provisionally; quarter/top comparison still shows a broad collar, and upper fin silhouette remains unresolved. Next review uses matching front silhouette. 13:43:59 | 016 | Neck collar center relief | Approved face close.png: broaden rear-open gap from 18 to 28 mm and extend forward from X40 to X52, preserving outer shoulders and shell thickness. Existing editable cutter only; base mesh unchanged. Tool backup ITER 016 - notch tool before widening. Review pending. Review 016: wider opening improves the quarter-view layered silhouette; retain. Front view still shows excessive solid center area. Next local correction rounds and deepens the inner edge without altering the outer collar. 13:45:06 | 017 | Neck collar relief | Approved face close.png rounded inner collar edge: changed localized notch to oval-ended outline, 32 mm wide, inner tip X60 (8 mm forward of 016). Outer collar and its thickness fixed. Reversible cutter data backup retained. Review pending. Review 017: retained oval relief; more coherent horseshoe outline in quarter view. No detached geometry visible. Next inspect hidden shoulder plates for possible fin use; previews only, visibility unchanged. 13:46:28 | 018 | Hidden shoulder pair fin trial | Approved face close.png raised swept fins. Existing pair moved 8 mm rear and 10 mm up in world coordinates; no shape changes. Remain hidden pending forced-visibility preview review. Original mesh copies retained. Review 018 technical finding: legacy Fair the common shell surface nodes overwrite Z, negating intended mesh lifts (base Z108.6..124.2, evaluated Z101.7..115.6). Disabled this modifier for the trial; retained it for reversal. New previews now show actual raised geometry. 13:48:04 | 019 | Fin trial transverse slope | Front concept shows narrow diagonal fin strips; candidate fronts appeared as tall shields. Blended Z 65 percent toward transverse slope Z136 - 0.65*abs(Y) + 0.025*(66-X). XY outline unchanged; both mesh backups retained. Still hidden for review. 13:49:05 | 020 | Fin trial profile | Flattened remaining longitudinal curl, transverse slope 0.9 with shallow 0.7 mm crown and 0.16 longitudinal rise. XY outline preserved; topology unchanged. Reference front narrow swept strips and side wing. Mesh backups retained; preview review pending. Review 020: rejected. Flattening alone created a sideways vertical blade; front inner boundary of candidate sits too far inward while rear tip points insufficiently inward. Mesh topology retained for next localized outline trial. 13:50:39 | 021 | Fin swept outline trial | Reference face close and side concept: brought rear tips inward up to 8 mm, front inner edges outward up to 8 mm, outer edge outward up to 3 mm; shortened projecting key about 2.7 mm. Gentle transverse slope follows revised outline. All source geometry retained in backups, hidden pending review. Review 018-021: rejected as a sequence. Shape did not meet both front and side concepts; final outline trial caused folded faces and Solidify spikes. Both shoulder plates restored from ITER 018 original geometry and original hidden state; legacy fairing modifier re-enabled. No trial fins accepted into visible assembly. 13:51:28 | 022 | Neck collar surface | Approved concept molded armor: 0.22 mm nominal edge bevel, 2 segments, smooth faces with 42 degree sharp-edge boundary and weighted normals. Vertex positions unchanged; editable modifiers and mesh backup retained. Review pending. Checkpoint: trial shoulder plates reverted; collar accepted changes through 017 and shading 022 under visual review. No non-carapace object edited. Review 022: retained. Collar shading is smoother across broad panels, with sharp rim maintained. Current accepted work: narrower collar, rounded rear relief, subtle edge treatment. Raised fin trials remain rejected and restored hidden; this region still needs refinement. 13:54:41 | 023 | Shoulder fin pair prototype | Approved front and side concept silhouettes: replaced only hidden candidate surface data with ordered longitudinal strips, 150 vertices each, 1.8 mm vertical shell thickness. Rear tip X34/Y12/Z132; broad front X91/Y47/Z110. Original mesh and modifier settings retained; old modifiers disabled. Hidden pending front/side/quarter review. Review 023: clean geometry and correct swept direction, but rear tips too tall relative to brow. Proceed with localized height correction. 13:55:35 | 024 | Fin height refinement | Lowered rear tip 7.5 mm, blending to front edge raised 1 mm. Both sides identical, shell thickness and XY outline retained. Backups retained. Review pending. Review 023/024: accepted as a cleaner fin basis with correct swept direction and no surface folds. Both made visible. Original candidate data preserved. Fin silhouette remains approximate; detail and attachment integration still need work. 13:57:22 | 025 | Collar front center | Approved face close.png shows collar behind brow. Lowered center front edge 3 mm, fading to zero by X55 and |Y|28. Outer shoulders unchanged; paired top/bottom vertices preserve thickness. Backup ITER 025 - collar before brow nesting. Review pending. Review 025: retained. Center collar lip sits closer behind the brow; outer shoulders still provide the fin-layer outline. 13:59:32 | 026 | Front side protector pair | Approved side concept rounded upper guards: 1.4 mm sine-squared rise between X61 and X82.5, blended vertically above Z87. Lower vertical guards fixed. Original topology and UVs retained; both backed up. Review pending. Review 026: retained. Upper returns now have a gentle arc matching the concept more closely; texture, lower guards and front/rear assembly positions preserved. Next compare rear guards. 14:00:51 | 027 | Rear side protector pair | Approved side concept uses matching curved upper returns at rear. Applied the retained front pattern: up to 2.5 mm return extension and 1.4 mm arch. Normalized each existing object placement separately, preserving their 0.713 mm X offset and fixed lower guards. Meshes and UVs preserved; backups retained. Review pending. Review 027: retained. Rear guards have the same controlled arch as front, with fixed vertical portions. Final pass reviewed with side orientation matching 64bd3947...png and front/quarter perspective previews, plus c48a3b55...png overview. Accepted fins are still simplified; central roof and rear upper fin layering remain significant reference differences for subsequent passes. 14:05:34 | 028 | Rear upper fin trial | Approved rear and side concepts show missing raised rear fin pair. Created independent mirrored copies of accepted front fin surfaces, 150 vertices each, rear X-91..-34. Existing imported rear and central shells untouched. Hidden pending front/rear/side preview. Review 028: rear fins too detached vertically and slightly narrow relative to rear arch. Next correction limited to height and outer reach. 14:06:45 | 029 | Rear fin placement | Lowered both rear fins 3 mm, extended outer ends laterally up to 3 mm fading to zero at inner tips. Thickness/topology fixed; backups retained. Perspective rear/quarter review pending. Review 028/029: rear fin silhouette retained as a simplified prototype; both made visible. Existing rear arch/cap and roof kept intact. Next inspect roof topology for an editable shallow center panel seam. 14:08:54 | 030 | Imported center roof | Approved rear/side concept center panel division. Added editable 0.28 mm wide, 0.35 mm deep surface-following center seam. Temporary topology inspection found all open edges were coincident splits; a 0.003 mm nominal Weld precedes Boolean without changing base vertices or UVs. Original mesh backup retained. Review pending. Review 030: retained; center seam follows roof and joins visual centerline of rear shell. No silhouette change. 14:10:10 | 031 | Roof panel divisions | Approved side concept segmented deck. Added two shallow 0.28 mm wide, 0.32 mm deep transverse seams near X22 and X-24, with slight chevron angles following the roof shoulders. Editable paired cutter; imported mesh intact. Review pending. Two surface-following divisions form shorter roof panels while original shoulder ridges and outline remain. 14:11:39 | 032 | Roof vent appearance | Approved side concept small paired roof grilles. Added two groups of four rounded slots near X-6 / Y+/-12; each approximately 9.9 x 0.72 mm, 0.48 mm deep. Cosmetic shallow recesses, editable cutter; original imported surface/UVs preserved. Review pending. Review 032: retained. Paired slots clean and symmetric; local roof thickness exceeds recess depth at sampled centers, confirming shallow cosmetic pockets. 14:13:00 | 033 | Roof shading | All 50,000 imported roof polygons were flat-shaded, unlike reference smooth metal. Set smooth face shading and retain sharp manifold edges above 45 degrees. Vertex positions, topology, UVs and texture unchanged; mesh backup retained. Review pending. Review 033: retained. Close comparison removes artificial triangle shading while preserving carved seams, slots and all surface geometry. 14:13:43 | 034 | Rear arch/cap shading | Approved rear concept smooth molded surfaces. Applied smooth shading with 45 degree crease edges and editable nominal 0.003 mm coincident-edge Weld. Base vertices, textures and UVs unchanged; mesh backup retained. Remaining reference differences include fin attachment/detail, collar width/profile and central roof shoulder shape. 14:19:13 | 036 | Front fin undersides | Approved concepts show dark supports beneath upper fins. Extruded two small underside regions into integral supports meeting the existing collar; added dark underside material. Top and outer silhouette unchanged. Symmetric contact feet use lower of paired collar heights, 0.08 mm overlap for prototype seating. Old meshes retained. Review pending. Review 036: retained as prototype attachment. Two compact dark supports meet the collar; upper red silhouette and fin sweep unchanged. 14:20:34 | 037 | Rear fin undersides | Initial 2 mm inward foot placement did not land inside both sides of roof; no geometry committed. Adjusted feet 4 mm inward and added matching integral dark supports meeting existing roof. Symmetric bottom heights use paired roof samples. Upper red fin surfaces unchanged; original meshes retained. Review pending. Review 037: support trial too tall/upright relative to layered concept. Retained only as base for immediate correction. 14:21:44 | 038 | Rear fin integration | Lowered inner fin region up to 3 mm, fading to zero at outer ends; moved support feet 2.5 mm toward body center and reseated symmetrically on roof. Paired seams follow upper fin surfaces with no visible silhouette change or gaps through the shell. Checkpoint through 043: integrated prototype fin supports, shallow fin ridges and front panel lines, smooth protector shading, narrower collar center band and wider outer shoulders. References restricted to approved concept-art folder plus Mesh_0.001. Non-carapace hardware preserved; no old scene objects deleted. Fin forms, attachment details and collar-to-brow nesting remain provisional for the ongoing refinement loop. 14:37:13 | 044 | Brow crown trial | Approved face close reference curved crown. Shading-only removal of weighted normals was worse and restored. Subdivided 48 long upper-crown edges once, raised existing outer surface by a smooth bounded dome of at most 0.796 mm. Close-up confirms shallow divisions follow top surface without changing silhouette. 14:51:20 | 051 | Front fin transverse tilt | Approved quarter concept shows broad upper fin faces, while current near fin appears edge-on. Reduced each station transverse inward roll by half (maximum Z move 1.25 mm) about fixed center ridge. Same offsets to top/bottom preserve 1.8 mm shell thickness. XY sweep, centerline and lower support feet fixed. Existing seam cutters follow tilt. All changed data backed up. Review pending. Review 051: rejected. Half-roll reduction did not give a clear three-quarter silhouette improvement and flattened the far fin highlight. Restored both fin meshes and panel cutters exactly from pre-trial data. Keep current fin sweep pending a stronger multi-view basis. 14:54:14 | 052 | Chin upper center ridge trial | Approved face close reference has a shallow central convex ridge. Added one mesh division at world Z60; advanced only upper front center by up to 0.6 mm, fading toward Y+/-6.8 and Z60. All geometry below Z60 and rear seats fixed. Existing center seam tool follows local ridge. Chin 31 base vertices, changed 5 upper vertices. Mesh and seam backups retained. Review pending. Review 052 first preview: ridge shape retained for review, but introduced an unwanted horizontal shading band. Set only the four broad front panels to smooth, joining their horizontal division while keeping central/perimeter edges sharp. Vertex coordinates and camera cuts unchanged in shading follow-up. Review 052 shading correction: first selection also included the two upper chamfer faces (six faces total). Tightened selection to four broad front faces only; upper chamfer restored flat/sharp. Horizontal front division smoothed, central seam and perimeter remain crisp. Review 052: retained subtle upper chin ridge and four-panel smooth transition. Upper chamfer, center seam and perimeter remain crisp. Base mesh 31 vertices; geometry below Z60, camera, optical opening tools and rear seats unchanged. 14:56:48 | 053 | Outliner organization | Inventoried 12 goal-created CARAPACE TOOL objects; all are active Boolean dependencies. Fitted one side and generated the opposite side with a Y mirror. Previous extracted vented plates retained but hidden. - Compared with EXTRACTED | Left vented back plate. Restored the stepped lower outer skirt, added a 3 mm tab clearance hole, and raised the crown toward the center to follow the reference curvature. - Replaced the folded Solidify trial with a simple hollow inside cavity. Five vent apertures pass through on each side. Cavity follows the broad roof envelope about 2.35 mm below it; local wall thickness varies. Original full import retained as a recovery mesh. - Evaluated pair: 25,802 vertices; 45,946 faces; zero boundary/nonmanifold edges and zero degenerate faces. Five vent centers and the tab bore are open; mirror provides matching opposite side. Visually checked top, underside, side and quarter view in the live scene. Prototype geometry; fastener alignment and print tolerances remain future work. - Preserved concurrent editing of temp_mesh.ply.003, current selection/mode, and viewport shading. No STL exports created. ### 2026-09-19T21:14:55 | 008 thickness correction User found the lower walls too deep. Preserved the outer crown and side step, raised the underside with an editable trim Boolean, slimmed the rim and pointed end, and raised the tab bore to Z99.5. Approximate broad-panel target 2 mm; local thickness varies. Evaluated pair volume reduced from 20,835 to 11335 mm3 (about 46 percent). Final pair: 26,032 vertices, 45,090 faces; zero boundary/nonmanifold edges and degenerate faces; all five vent centers remain open. Inspected quarter and underside previews. Other active edits and viewport mode retained. ## 2026-09-19T21:47:48 | 008 comparison-driven rebuild User requested continued refinement against 755abc57-6231-43df-adb4-2e1c7eb01e2b.png instead of a geometry-only completion claim. Captured and reviewed the prior top/side/end profiles. Identified a leaning crown, arched lower rim, uneven recesses and missing mounting pads. Rebuilt the surface in the existing temp_mesh.ply.008 object using a controlled faceted crown, a mostly level rim, a localized 4.4 mm flange step, and the reference length-to-width proportion (~99 x 41 mm per side). Corrected the keyhole extension to align with the lower edge and made the two small vents different sizes. Added narrow panel grooves, dark nose cap, three interior hex mounting pads per side, two side screw recesses, nominal 1.6 mm walls and 0.18 mm edge bevels. Updated clean red paint material. Base mesh: 393 vertices / 615 faces; evaluated mirrored pair with bevels: 11,632 vertices / 12,572 faces. No boundary/nonmanifold edges or zero-area faces in this pass. Compared top, side, end, quarter and underside views with the supplied sheet; also checked the pair on the live robot. Visual concept fit is approximate, not a dimensioned manufacturing drawing. Original imported mesh, UVs and material remain in RECOVERY | 008 before upper shell correction; the new working surface uses clean materials. Deleted superseded own modifier tools and scratch scenes/objects; retained current Boolean dependencies and unrelated user work.
